About Us

So what are we about?

JETAA NSW is the alumni association for former participants of the JET Programme residing in New South Wales. We aim to keep in contact with  past and present JETs and maintain a connection to Japan. Our association is more than ten years old and currently has over 400 members. Worldwide, there are more than 53,000 JET alumni, with local chapters in 17 countries around the world. Read more at the JETAA International website.

JETAA NSW plays a major role in a wide range of Japan-related activities in Sydney and regional New South Wales. Working with the Consulate-General of Japan and the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), we promote and foster language and cultural exchange between Australia and Japan, conduct orientation sessions for new JET Programme participants prior to their departure for Japan, and provide support for recently returned JETs. We also conduct a variety of social events for our members during the year.

JETAA NSW is generously sponsored by the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The Executive Committee is elected at the beginning of each year, during the Annual General Meeting (usually held in Early February).
